What is the Harding Cabaret?  A cabaret is a bunch of skits and a bunch of songs.  In The Harding Cabaret, the skits and songs take place on platforms, or stairs, and the audience sits on the stage.  There is usually some sort of food - cookies and punch - served, that the audience can go and eat whenever they want, usually during intermission.  During intermission, and until right before the show begins, the students are allowed to mingle with the audience.

How are rehearsals run?  Rehearsals usually run about eight weeks.  The first week is blocking, that's when the director tells the actors where they are supposed to stand, where they come in, when they are supposed to move.  The second two weeks, the actors are allowed to use their scripts.  The fourth week, is drop book week.  This means that the actors are no longer allowed to use their scripts.  For two, two and a half weeks, the students can get lines from the student director if they can't remember.  About two, two and a half weeks after drop book week, is limited prompt.  This means that the only time an actor get lines is when he/she are really stuck and can't remember their line and the act is all messed up.  Limited prompt lasts about a week, then they go to no prompt, this is usually the last week of rehearsal.  By this time, the students should know their lines and if they don't then it's up to the people on stage to get them out of it.
