International Baccalaureate Program

The International Baccalaureate (IB) program is a comprehensive and rigorous two-year curriculum.  Based on the pattern of no single country, it is a deliberate compromise between the specialization required in some national systems and the breadth preferred in others.

The International Baccalaureate program is a comprehensive and cohesive curriculum that responds to the need for greater challenge in the upper secondary level and for new opportunities to achieve excellence in education.  Designed and administered by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) in Geneva, Switzerland, the program encompasses all the traditional courses of study and also incorporates multi-cultural perspectives and internationally based standards of achievement.

Through this program students  in the last two years of high school are earning credentials recognized for admission to colleges and universities throughout the world and also for course credit or advanced placement at those in North America.

Program Benefits

Weighted Grades: Students enrolled in IB courses receive “weighted” grades for these courses that reflect the additional effort required to participate in and pass these courses. The weighted grades do affect class rankings.

College Credit: IB students are earning credentials recognized for admission to colleges and universities throughout the world and also for course credit or advanced placement at those in North America (dependent on examination scores).

Colleges and universities are rapidly coming to recognize and respect the International Baccalaureate Program. Many colleges actively recruit IB students, while others offer special scholarships for the IB diploma. A recent study completed by the Admissions Office at the University of Florida shows that IB students have greater success in college than students from general college prep programs and even Advanced Placement programs.

Best College Prep Program in the world. IB classes, although intense and rigorous allow for more individualized attention. These classes, in addition to covering college freshmen level material, are run more like college classrooms and are therefore better preparation for that ultimate goal.

News & Information. IB students receive regular newsletters that provide them with information about scholarships and financial aid, study skills, time management, and other topics vital to the advanced student.
